WebTV™ is your network, and we take your suggestions very seriously. Thanks to your feedback, you can print up a storm, surf where you've never surfed before, experience a richer Web and safely shop to your heart's content. Read on to learn more about the new features in your free upgrade.

Printing

Have you ever wanted to print a Web page, an e-mail message or a posting from a discussion group? Now you can connect a Hewlett Packard color Deskjet printer to your WebTV Internet terminal. All you need is the printer and an adapter from Sony or Philips Magnavox. Check out Printing from WebTV in Using WebTV for more details on where to buy a printer and the WebTV printer adapter. Homework and research projects just became easier!

A richer and more entertaining Web experience

Crank up the volume and sit back in your chair. WebTV has new audio and animation features that make sites more fun. For those of you into technology, this means we've added Shockwave Audio, RealAudio 3.0, Javascript, Macromedia Flash and enhanced Frames support. For those of you thinking "what's that?" ... our free upgrade means we can bring to life more of the Web sites you love, including:

MTV Online
e.Schwab Online Investing
Wall of Sound
CelebSite
Nintendo
Hollywood Stock Exchange
Classical Insites
Compare.Net

Enhanced security

WebTV has added the standard system for secure Web pages: SSL (Secure Socket Layer). Now you can safely make purchases and complete other transactions in areas such as online banking, travel reservations, shopping and more. With SSL, your personal information is electronically encoded and protected as you use a company's Web site. You don't need to do anything special: the secure communication is built right into the company's Web site, and WebTV automatically makes the secure connection.

Here are a few of the companies that use SSL:

Shopping
   Amazon.com
   Barnes & Noble
   Music Boulevard
   PC Flowers & Gifts

Entertainment
   Ticketmaster
   Movielink

Travel
   Travelocity
   Preview Travel
   Southwest Airlines

Banking
   Wells Fargo Bank
   First Union Bank
   Security First Network Bank

Investing
   E*Trade
   Lombard Brokerage
   Fidelity Investments
   American Century Investments
   Lindner Funds
