Stage one--------------------- Take HD ot of the webtv Remove the slave/master pin (put somewhere safe) Open WinHex Select open disk Select hard disk 2 (# of hard disk might be different depending on your setup) Then goto Edit-->Select All Then goto Edit-->Fill Block Then click on Fill with 1-6,12,15, or 16 Hex and in the box below put 00 then click ok Click ok for all warnings, should take 25 min Put back the slave/master pin and reconnect HD back in the webtv and update it.. Stage two--------------------- Editing the connecting screen Connect the webtv HD to your PC and open it with WinHex Now open connectMatt.txt in WinHex (connectMatt.txt is encluded in zip file) Now the connectMatt file, Goto Edit->Select All Then Edit->Copy Block->Normal Now go over to the Hard Disk 2 Goto Position->Then Offset, 1B07800 (That's the beginning of the connecting screen file) You should see a backwards html starting. ( !<-- -=* *oCypirhg t9169 ,9179W beVTN teowkr,sI cn .lA lirhgstr sereev.d- -- >< thlm > ) In the hex part of it, in row 0, click on the first letter or number, whatever appears, so it's highlighted. Goto Edit->Clipboard Data->Write OK to the warnings Save and you're good to go You might have to turn audiable dialing ON cause there's two connect screens, one with music, one without, that's the one without I like to use power off code 217 then turn box on and click on the connect button and you should see your edited connecting screen.
